The Department of Neurology at the University of California Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting a Clinician Scientist to join its growing faculty. This full-time position is offered in the Clinical Neurology series at the Associate rank.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary academic adult and child Neurology practice in the beautiful Sacramento region of Northern California. The UC Davis Department of Neurology and UC Davis Health teaching hospital are nationally ranked in US News & World Report. The department continues to expand with over 50 clinical faculty across all neurological specialties. The Neurology outpatient clinic has a neurophysiology lab that supports EEG, PSG and EMG studies, as well as excellent nursing, staff, neuropsychology, social work, and pharmacological support.
This faculty position requires expertise and interest in clinical, translational and collaborative research in sleep and epilepsy; clinical practice in sleep and epilepsy in an outpatient and inpatient setting; the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows; and University and public service.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a successful research program evaluating how neural network alterations originate, develop, and change over time in epilepsy; the intersection of sleep and epilepsy, and the role of sleep disruption in cognitive disorders, and specifically in the cognitive comorbidities of epilepsy.
The candidate will also provide inpatient and outpatient clinical care in the Sleep and Epilepsy sections; serve as a consult attending on one of the inpatient services (adult or pediatric); and participate in the training of our Neurology Residents and fellows. The candidate will participate in residency, fellow and medical student didactic lectures.
• California Medical license
• Board certified or eligible in Neurology, Child Neurology, Epilepsy, and Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
• Fellowship training in Sleep Medicine Neurology
• The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment
• Experience conducting scholarly/clinical/translational research and a record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials
• National reputation in the American Academy of Neurology, American Epilepsy Society, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the Child Neurology Society.
