Environmental Policy and Management

Position Description: To instruct ENV 297 in the Fall 2022. The course description is as follows: A weekly seminar inviting policy and management professionals to come and discuss their challenges and achievements. The EPM Professional Development Seminar Series trains students in fundamental skills to serve effectively as environmental policy analysts and natural resources managers. The Fall quarter of the series covers leadership, networking, career paths, policy writing and funding. The instructor of the Fall 297 should coordinate with other instructors and EPM staff to ensure no overlap in course content.

APPOINTMENT DATE: Assignments vary according to type of course and percentage of appointment. Service periods are:
Fall Quarter 2022: September 19, 2022– December 9, 2022
Winter Quarter 2022: January 6, 2023 – March 24, 2023
Spring Quarter 2022: March 30, 2023 – June 15, 2023

RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach one or more undergraduate or graduate courses in Environmental Science and Policy. Candidates may be asked to teach one to two courses for the year depending on programmatic need and candidate's availability.

QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate professional degree, e.g. Doctorate; or Master's degree and prior professional success and recognition for excellence; or Thirty (30) units of graduate coursework and prior professional success and recognition for excellence; a demonstrated teaching ability; a developing record of scholarly or professional achievement in an area of expertise related to the subject area of the course.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Temporary Lecturers are selected to fill specialized positions which require professional, as well as academic, expertise. Temporary Lecturers may be selected to fill teaching needs occasioned by leave of regular faculty or to enhance and compliment the strengths of faculty teaching related courses. Therefore, in any given year, open positions and requirements for individuals to fill them will vary. First review will be for internal applicants who had an appointment in 2021-2022.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications, education and experience.
