Position description

The Department of English seeks lecturers in all areas of writing instruction, creative writing, and literature for classes to be offered during the 2022-2023 school year. Ability to teach courses in British and American literature before 1900, ENL 183: Young Adult Literature, ENL 3: Introduction to Literature, and ENL 5F/5P/5NF (introductory creative-writing workshops in fiction, poetry, and non-fiction) is particularly welcome.

Qualifications:
Candidates need to have a PhD at the time of appointment, unless applying only to teach Creative Writing classes, in which case an MFA or MA in Creative Writing is sufficient.

Eligibility and Application Procedure:
Successful applicants will have experience and demonstrated competence teaching at the college level. Preferences will be given to applicants with experience in subject matter relevant to courses available.

The application procedure is as follows:
a. Submit a letter of application of no more than two pages that includes information about your teaching experiences and goals. It should indicate which fields of literature / creative writing and/or undergraduate English courses on our curriculum you are most qualified to teach. If you have had experience lecturing for larger audiences and if you have experience in remote instruction, please let us know that as well.

b. Along with your letter of application, please submit a CV that lists all relevant courses taught.

c. A Statement of Contributions to Diversity is required of all applicants.

Candidates selected for further consideration may be asked to submit a teaching portfolio and a letter of recommendation.
