Position description

The Department Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UC Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time (100% time) academic Physiatrist in Brain Injury Rehabilitation Medicine. The position will serve as a faculty member at either the Assistant, Associate or full Professor rank in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor academic tracks. The academic rank and series of the position is commensurate with the level of experience and qualifications of the applicant.

The UC Davis Department of PM&R is the premiere rehabilitation service provider in the greater Sacramento region, and is located on the UC Davis Health campus in Sacramento, California. UC Davis Health has engaged in a joint venture to launch a new 52 bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital on the UC Davis Health campus expected to be completed in 2023. Sacramento is an easily accessible, family-oriented city in close proximity to the San Francisco Bay area, Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the California coast, and Napa Valley.
Requirements

This position will focus on inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation of stroke, traumatic brain injury, concussion and spasticity management, and will also include the teaching of residents and medical students. This position will be an integral piece in developing a multidisciplinary Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence. This position will provide both formal and didactic sessions and clinical supervision for students and house staff, as well as, participate in departmental meetings, conferences, hospital and departmental committees. This position will participate in evening/weekend/holiday call for the UC Davis PM&R inpatient rehabilitation call. Opportunities for clinical research may be available.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

The candidate must possess an M.D. or D.O. degree, have completed an approved physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program, and be board certified or eligible in Brain Injury Medicine. The candidate must be eligible for licensure in the State of California and/or have an active California medical license prior to appointment start date. Candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment and adhere to University policy and procedures.

Preferred qualifications

Demonstrated teaching experience in an academic clinical setting is preferred.
