The University of California (UC) Davis, School of Medicine, department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology seeks to hire a full-time employee as an Assistant Project Scientist. The position requires creative contributions to and collaborative development of an active research program using epigenomic and bioinformatic approaches to investigate genetic and environmental interactions in early life.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, evaluate new AAV9-vector design targeting epigenetic regulators of X chromosome inactivation. The project will require behavioral and neurological testing in murine modes for Rett, Fragile X and DDX3X as well as human induced pluripotent stem cells. The candidate is expected to contribute to the experimental design, including the selection of appropriate methods and controls, supervise students or technicians regarding the technical aspects of the research and troubleshooting, conduct a series of epigenomic analyses, publish results in peer-reviewed journals, and assist in writing proposals and progress reports for funding from federal agencies or other sources. The candidate will participate in professional societies and conferences appropriate to his/her specific field of epigenomics and will serve as a reviewer of research proposals and scientific publications as appropriate. The candidate will attend seminars to present research results and may give oral presentations to public and professional interest groups. The candidate may coordinate and/or give presentations at seminars, laboratory meetings or educational functions. Teaching classroom courses is not an expectation of this position.

PhD in Biology or other biomedically related field. 4-5 years of post-doctoral research experience in epigenetics and neurobiology.
Excellent publication record and communication skills are required. Experience in handling animals and various behavioral assays is required.
Experience in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds in bioinformatics and data analyses. Experience and success in writing grants.
