The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of California, Davis invites applications for one Postdoctoral Associate in quantitative molecular and cellular biology.
A postdoctoral scholar position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. John Albeck in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, UC Davis. This position will support NIH-funded interdisciplinary projects focusing on epithelial cell signal transduction pathways and their involvement in inflammatory lung diseases and cancer. The successful candidate will lead independent research projects with an emphasis on integrating computational models of signaling activity with experimental data. The research environment in the Albeck lab is multi-disciplinary and collaborative, and the candidate will work extensively with other team members to develop quantitative models of cellular communication and its role in disease progression and therapeutic response.
• Design and carry out experiments using techniques including mammalian cell culture, biosensor construction, and live-cell microscopy.
• Employ appropriate computational modeling methods as necessary to interpret experimental results and support experimental design.
• Collect, analyze, and present data in group meetings and external conferences
• Maintain detailed experimental records and notes.
• Work with the Principal investigator to prepare high-quality peer-reviewed manuscripts and grant submissions to pursue funding opportunities.
• Provide peer review and feedback on external manuscripts and grants.
Lab management (10%)
• Provide technical support and mentoring for junior researchers.
• Maintain lab stocks and databases.
• Contribute to lab maintenance and organization
SALARY RANGE: $54,540-$65,292 (100% Annual), commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Graduate degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in computational or quantitative molecular biology, with demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following areas: cellular signaling analysis, quantitative live cell microscopy, or computational modeling of biological processes.
