Academic Plastic Surgeon
The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis, Health System located in Sacramento, California, seeks to hire a full time Plastic Surgeon at the assistant or associate professor level in the Health Science Clinical, Clinical X, or In-Residence series. UC Davis is a large volume Level I Trauma Hospital with an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center and a Level I Children’s Surgical Center.
The candidate selected is expected to engage in the teaching and practice of plastic and reconstructive surgery of patients with facial wounds, congenital deformities and/or breast reconstructive needs; including clinical care, both inpatient and outpatient; and basic science/translational research trials relating to reconstructive surgery and clinical outcomes.
Successful candidate will be appointed at the granted the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Clinical X, In-Residence or HSCP series depending on experience and qualifications. Expectations of a Clinical X series is to engage in teaching, research, service and clinical work, appointees the In-Residence series are required to participate in teaching, research, University/public service, and patient care and appointees of the HSCP series is to engage in clinical work, teaching and to support departments research mission.
Qualified candidates must have an M.D. degree, be board certified or board eligible in Plastic Surgery and a California Medical License before the start date. The hire should obtain a California Fluoroscopy Operator’s Permit within the first year of appointment. All candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.
Preferred candidates include experience and capability in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Specific training and experience with aesthetic plastic surgical procedures, including body contouring following bariatric surgery, or research in the areas of reconstructive surgery as a result of trauma, cancer resection, congenital defects and related conditions would also be desirable.
