The University of California, Davis, Department of Surgery

Academic Colorectal Surgeon, Division of Colorectal Surgery

The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis, Health System located in Sacramento, California, seeks to hire a full-time Academic Colorectal Surgeon. UC Davis is a large volume Level I Trauma Hospital with an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center and a Level I Children’s Surgical Center.

The selected candidate will be expected to participate in teaching; clinical care, both inpatient and outpatient; research relating to colorectal surgery and university service dependent on the chosen academic series.

Successful candidate will be appointed at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Clinical X, In-Residence or HSCP series depending on experience and qualifications. Expectations of a Clinical X series is to engage in teaching, research, service and clinical work, appointees the In-Residence series are required to participate in teaching, research, University/public service, and patient care and appointees of the HSCP series is to engage in clinical work, teaching and to support departments research mission.

Basic Qualifications:
• Must possess a Medical Doctorate
• Excellent Academic Background
• Completed an approved Colorectal Surgical fellowship
• Candidates must be board certified/eligible in Colorectal Surgery
• CA Medical License before the appointment start date
• The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment

Preferred qualifications:
• Prior experience in administration of clinical and educational programs
• Demonstrated experience in colorectal cancer and/or IBD
• Experience in minimally invasive surgery, pelvic floor surgery training
• Strong interest in clinical education
