Academic Surgical Oncologist

The School of Medicine, Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis, Health System in Sacramento, California seeks to recruit a full-time Academic Surgical Oncologist at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in the Clinical X, Health Science Clinical Professor or In-Residence series depending on experience and qualifications.

Expectations of a Clinical X series is to engage in teaching, research, service and clinical work, while expectations of faculty in the HSCP series are primarily clinical and include teaching, service and scholarly and/or creative activities.
Appointees the In-Residence series are required to participate in teaching, research, University/public service and patient care.

The emphasis of this recruitment is for a “general surgical oncologist” though the opportunity will be provided to develop a disease-specific focus including melanoma and gastrointestinal tumors. The candidate will be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching, research and university service depending on academic series.

Qualifications:
• Must be Board certified in general surgery
• Must have a California medical license before the appointment start date
• Selected individuals will have completed an approved ACGME accredited surgical oncology fellowship and will join a practice in the Division of Surgical Oncology at the NCI-accredited UCD Cancer Center.
• The candidate must have a long-term goal of establishing a multi-disciplinary cancer practice
• Expected to participate in clinical care, teaching, research and university service depending on academic series
• The candidate must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment
• Expertise and an academic career interest in Global Health is preferred
