Position description

The Department of Radiology at the University of California, Davis is recruiting a full-time, fellowship-trained Musculoskeletal Radiologist at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (commensurate with credentials) in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) or Clinician Educator (Clin X) series. Expectations of a ClinX series is to engage in teaching, research, service and clinical work, while expectations of faculty in the HSCP series are primarily clinical and include teaching, service and scholarly and/or creative activities.

Candidates must possess an M.D. degree or equivalent, have a valid CA Medical License (or be eligible for licensure in the State of California), and be board certified in Diagnostic Radiology (or be eligible for the initial certification examination of the American Board of Radiology). The applicant should have a strong interest in working collaboratively in a diverse environment.

Expertise in all aspects of musculoskeletal imaging is strongly suggested, including MR, CT, US, and image-guided procedures. The expected candidate will work primarily within musculoskeletal imaging. Knowledge in and willingness to interpret exams in other areas of radiology will be highly valued. This position involves participation in patient care, service, education, and research, although less emphasis is placed on research for those in the HSCP series. Particular emphasis will be placed on an individual's interest in trainee education, breadth of knowledge, and flexibility.

The UC Davis Medical Center shares its medical campus with the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, and the Shriners Hospital for Children in Sacramento, approximately 15 miles from the undergraduate campus.
The UC Davis Health System has a strong referral system from its primary care network, as the UC Davis Health System has offices extending over a 38-mile radius from the Sacramento campus with a total of 17 different locations. This provides the radiology department a diversity of CT, MRI, and radiographic exams. Radiographic exams are conducted throughout our Primary Care Network and Sacramento campus. Our multispecialty academic medical center has 627 beds and is one of only 41 National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive centers nationwide. We also serve as a Level 1 Trauma center, serving patients to the Oregon and Nevada borders. We have some of the most up to date CT and MRI scanners for both clinical and research applications, including Canon ultra-high resolution, 128 slice, and dual energy CT scanners, Explorer PET/CT scanner, and 3 Tesla MR scanners.

The Musculoskeletal Imaging Division currently has 6 faculty members and 2 fellows. The Department of Radiology has 30 residents, and upper-level medical students and residents from other departments frequently rotate through our section.
