The Wang lab is seeking a highly-motivated and passionate postdoctoral researcher to lead projects relating to identify/quantify chemical markers (e.g. phenolics, volatiles and fatty acids) that are important for quality, purity and nutrition in food products and to modify processing methods to improve these parameters (often via collaborations). Under PI’s (Dr. Wang) guidance, the postdoc will perform various analytical methods (GC/MS, LC/FID, LC/MS) on different foods/matrixes, analyze and publish study results.
Dr. Wang is an extension specialist at the Department of Food Science and Technology and the research director of UC Davis Olive Center, therefore our research is driven by the needs of industry and used in our education for the industry professionals. The successful candidate will interact directly industry stakeholders, academic/government researchers.
• Analyze chemical makers such as phenolics and volatiles in different foods and matrixes.
• Process data using various statistical techniques.
• Communicate and coordinate with collaborators and industry stakeholders.
• Prepare manuscripts, reports, grant proposals.
Basic Qualifications: Doctoral Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Food Science with Chemistry emphasis, or a related field.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Knowledgeable about Statistics.
- Experience with grant proposal preparations.
Salary and conditions: Full-time salary and benefits included and are consistent with UC Davis policy and commensurate with applicant experience.
