POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
ENCAPSULATED CRISPR GENE-EDITOR FOR MUCOSAL DELIVERY

Location: The Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, University of California, Davis invites applications for one Postdoctoral Researcher in Cryo-EM and Structural Biology.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: A postdoctoral position is open in Dr. R. Holland Chang’s lab (https://pioms.ucdavis.edu) supported by the NIH Somatic Cell Genome Editing consortium (https://scge.mcw.edu/). The lab concentrates on characterizing structures of multi-subunit complexes, utilizing cryo-electron microscopy and correlative multimodal imaging, to repurpose a self-reassembly, proteolysis-proof capsid towards mucosa-enabled theragnostics. The project will design and evaluate novel delivery systems for genome editing tools in mice and large animal models. In a team, the position’s primary focus is to evaluate the on-target and off-target activities by a mucosa-friendly capsid to deliver genetic and epigenetic editors. The successful candidate will participate in SCGE consortium network, seminars and team meetings to effectively prepare one’s accomplished research for timely peer-reviewed publications.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Virology, Biomedical Engineering, or related field. Experience in working with cryoEM data processing, structural modeling, and/or whole-genome assays related to gene packaging/editing in vivo will be a plus. Candidate must have excellent communication skills and be resourceful to collaborative efforts among the SCGE consortial labs.

SALARY RANGE: $53,460-$64,008 [Level 0-5, 100% annual], commensurate with qualifications and experience.

POSITION AVAILABLE/CLOSING DATE: For full consideration, all application materials must be received by July 15, 2020. The job will remain open for applicants until August 20, 2020.

TERM OF APPOINTMENT: This one-year appointment is based on the needs of the research project. Appointment can be extended upon satisfactory performance.
