The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California, Davis invites applications for a position of Unit 18 Lecturer for the 2020-2021 academic year. Field of specialization is open, although an ability to teach Latin American and/or transatlantic culture courses is ideal. Successful candidates will have experience and competence teaching language and introductory courses at the college level. Primary duties are to teach six courses: upper division courses, lower-division language courses, or some combination of the two (typically 2 per quarter) as assigned and hold office hours each week. Assignment of classes, hours of instruction, and office hours are at the discretion of the department. Classes are held Monday-Friday, normally between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Salary is commensurate with education, qualifications, and experience. This appointment is renewable contingent on department teaching needs and demonstration of excellence in teaching.

Requirements: PhD in hand at the time of appointment; expertise in Latin American Studies and/or transatlantic studies; experience teaching in Spanish; native or near-native ability in Spanish; and excellence in teaching.
