The UC Davis, Graduate School of Management invites applications for a Lecturer to teach Management Policy and Strategy. The foundation of the course is a simulation with a focus on managing the total enterprise. Students are charged with leveraging concepts learned from both core and elective course offerings in a simulated environment. Students will make strategic integrated decisions in a simulated environment for organization performance. The simulation presents various modules to simulate “real world” situations- promoting critical thinking and analysis. This is an action learning course that involves students working in small teams. The teams are focused on real problems – making strategic decisions while learning as a team and as individuals. The student teams engage competition rounds that last several weeks over the duration of the course.
The course has a curriculum with the simulation at its core. The course is also designed to incorporate general practitioners to assist with exploring course concepts by discussing practical implication / application. There is flexibility in terms of curriculum / course design. The Lecturer will work in partnership with the Sr. Director of Programming for any proposed changes.
The position is open for the 2020-2021 academic year. The position will work in partnership with a teaching assistant to advise several student teams, (number of teams are contingent on class size). The course is a hybrid approach; with alternating face to face sessions, (required on campus), and virtual sessions.
The lecturer is primarily responsible for:
• Introduction of the simulation and to ensure student immersion
• Supporting the teams in partnership with teaching assistant with simulation insights and feedback on performance
• Meeting regularly during all designated class time meetings, both face to face and virtually
• Leverage network, (university, personal, professional, etc.), to identify practitioners, (guest lecturers), to explore concepts within the course
Candidates should have experience within strategy, operations and supply chain management. Candidates should understand an integrated focus of all functional business units that align with Operation and Supply chain management. We prefer to have someone that is familiar with MBA education.

Unit 18 Lecturers are governed under a collective bargaining agreement (American Federation of Teachers (AFT) - Non-Senate Instructional Unit).
