• Under the direction of the PI, the Junior Specialist with gather food system network data, clean and enter data and work along side/collaborate with a team of undergraduate researchers in assembling data.
• The Junior Specialist will analyze this data in social network software.
• The Junior Specialist will draft the methods sections of the resulting research article and edit/proof the findings, providing further context.
• Resulting manuscripts will list the Junior Specialist as co-author.
Professional Competence (8%)
• The Junior Specialist can attend and present findings at the Agriculture and Human Values conference
University and Public Service (5%)
• The Junior Specialist will advise/mentor undergraduates as they assemble data.
Salary Range: $39,500 - $43,400
• BS or BA in Agriculture related field
• Ability to work independently
• Good organizational skills
• Familiarity with basic data collection and entry
• Ability to identify and solve problems encountered in field or lab settings
• Willing to carry loads of up to 50 lbs.
• Able to work at field sites under inclement weather conditions, and able to work unusual hours as needed
• Have a valid driver’s license
NOTE: The junior specialist rank is an entry-level position, accordingly it is inappropriate to hire applicants with advanced degrees in this field or with a bachelors degree and three years of relevant work experience (see APM-UCD 330). Candidates will higher than a bachelor’s degree or if they have a bachelor’s degree and three years of experience, they should not be hired into a Jr. Specialist position.
