Academic Endocrine Surgeon

The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis located in Sacramento, California seeks to recruit a full-time Academic Endocrine Surgeon at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in the Clinical X, Health Science Clinical Professor or In-Residence series depending on experience and qualifications. UC Davis is a large volume Level I Trauma Hospital with an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center and Level I Children’s Surgical Center.

The selected candidate will work within the Section of Endocrine Surgery at the UC Davis Medical Center. We are committed to providing world class care for patients with thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal disorders.

The candidate will be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching, research and university service depending on academic series.

Basic Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must possess a medical degree. The successful candidate must have completed an approved Fellowship in Endocrine Surgery. Applicants for this position must be board certified/eligible in general surgery. Candidates should have a strong interest and expertise in high volume training in thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery and/or Robotics surgery (Robotics preferred, but not required).

The selected candidate must have an interest in developing a pediatric thyroid program in conjunction with pediatric surgery and be able to demonstrate experience in outcomes research using national databases. The candidate should have a strong interest in developing endocrine surgery education programs for residents and medical students. All candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional training in trans-oral thyroidectomy techniques is preferred, but not required.

Additional Qualifications:
Candidates are required to obtain a California Medical License before the appointment start date. The candidate is expected to apply for a Fluoroscopy license within the first year of appointment.

Salary and level of appointment will be based upon experience and qualifications.
