Description

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for an assistant adjunct professor position in the area of smart transportation systems. This position is to support the department’s immediate teaching needs in transportation, and is in line with the department’s strategic plan in Smart Infrastructure and Smart Cities. Requirements include a doctoral degree in engineering or related field and demonstrated effectiveness at teaching both undergraduate and graduate levels, and a fundamental knowledge in transportation system modeling and optimization methods.

The successful candidate will have strong teaching and student mentoring capabilities, with classroom experiences and a solid record of scholarship in transportation. Expertise in the design, operation or management of transportation systems that contributes to creating a smart and sustainable urban system is required. Candidates should have experience in guiding students in emerging areas such as data science, sensing, control, and system methods to address new challenges in the transportation field is preferred. Research synergies across the broad field of transportation are highly desired as well as experience in independently mentoring graduate students and working with multi-disciplinary teams to develop and conduct innovative research in emerging areas of transportation and/or smart infrastructure.
