The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine is seeking dynamic academic physician-educators, and -investigators with combined skills in surgical pathology and neuropathology, including frozen section diagnosis as well as experience with brain, nerve and muscle biopsies. The successful candidate will be expected to grow clinical, teaching and creative programs at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Clinical (X) or the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series. In addition to neuropathology, subspecialty focus in head and neck, lung, gynecologic, gastrointestinal, molecular-anatomic, informatics, quality improvement, or other areas of pathology is desirable. Clinical duties will chiefly involve neuropathology and surgical pathology. Teaching duties may include clinical, didactic, and small group teaching of graduate students, housestaff and medical students; interdisciplinary conferences to housestaff and faculty, and curriculum development in subspecialty areas. Participation in the research mission of the institution is expected, either as a collaborator or as the intellectual leader of clinically-oriented research projects pertinent to the candidate’s areas of expertise and subspecialty training, depending on academic series chosen for appointment. The successful candidate should have the ability to maintain a high level of service, work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment, and should exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with medical and technical staff, trainees, and others are required.
Requirements: MD or MD/PhD, and be board-eligible or certified in anatomic pathology and neuropathology, and have an appropriate record of accomplishment in clinical care, teaching and research to meet requirements for appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in one of the University of California’s clinically-intensive academic series (Clinical (X) or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series). California professional license or eligibility for licensure in California is required.
