Description

The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for one full-time position in the Health Sciences Clinical Series at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology as a hospital-based gastroenterologist. The position will include working with fellows and coverage of the inpatient GI consultation service and attending and participating in educational conferences during daytime hours 2 weeks monthly. Time not assigned to the inpatient service will be spent performing procedures and consultations in the outpatient setting 5 half-days weekly. No evening or weekend call is expected of this position.

The UC Davis Medical Center is a 500-plus bed hospital that admits more than 30,000 patients per year with an emergency room that sees more than 210 patients per day on average. The GI Division has a long-standing history of providing outstanding patient care and medical education focused on the training of GI Fellows.

Appointees to the Health Sciences Clinical series are required to participate in patient care, teaching, scholarly activities, and university service. The successful candidate will be have demonstrated excellence in providing outstanding gastroenterology care and teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. Candidates with expertise with inpatient gastrointestinal patient care, particularly treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding and interest in fellow education are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have expertise in general gastroenterology and diagnostic/therapeutic endoscopy. Candidates must possess an M.D. degree, be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology and have completed a three-year Gastroenterology fellowship training program. Candidates must be qualified for licensure within the State of California. Candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment.
