Assistant Professor of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology

Title: Assistant Professor of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology. The Department of Environmental Toxicology in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the University of California, Davis is recruiting an Assistant Professor of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology with a preferred emphasis in Environmental Chemistry. This is an academic year (9-month), Assistant Professor tenure-track position with teaching, research, outreach/engagement and service responsibilities and includes the expectation that the appointee will conduct mission-oriented research and outreach/engagement of relevance to the California Agricultural Experiment Station (https://caes.ucdavis.edu/research/aes).
The Department of Environmental Toxicology is seeking applicants that focus on areas relevant to environmental chemistry and toxicology. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, environmental processes and impacts, chemical remediation, food chemistry/toxicology, biological chemistry or molecular toxicology. The successful applicant is expected to have, or to develop, an independent, internationally-recognized and well-funded research program. In addition to training and supervising undergraduate and graduate students, and collaborating, with established programs within the university, the appointee will teach at least two courses in the Environmental Toxicology curriculum (undergraduate or graduate). Examples include Environmental Fate of Toxicants (ETX 102A), Quantitative Analysis of Environmental Toxicants (ETX 102B), Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry of Toxic Chemicals (ETX 228), Environmental Toxicants (ETX 203), Role & Applications of Toxicology in Modern Industry (ETX 130), Food Toxicology (ETX 128), or Toxicology of Pesticides (ETX 270), and a course the appointee develops in an area of expertise. Participation in and development of outreach/engagement programs, and performance of departmental and university service is expected. This position is expected to collaborate with extension educators and partners in allied industries.
Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a field of chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, molecular biology, biological chemistry, or a related field at the time of appointment. Post-doctoral experience is preferred. Evidence of research excellence is expected. The candidate should have the ability to develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses and the ability to develop and conduct extramurally funded research in fields related to environmental chemistry and toxicology.
