The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine, University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, seeks to hire one, 50% part time employee as a Junior Specialist.
The individual will work on the cancer drug discovery project involving the characterization of a short peptides with anti-cancer activity. This is a joint cancer drug discovery project between Dr. Kit Lam and Dr. Binh Dao of Sacramento City College.
- Design and synthesis of OBOC combinatorial libraries.
- Screening of combinatorial libraries.
- Peptide synthesis.
- Cell-based assays and biochemical assays development for combinatorial library screening and lead compound characterization.
- Maintenance of cancer cell culture.
- 3D-cell culture method development.
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE AND ACTIVITY – 5%
The individual will participate in conferences appropriate to their specific field and will serve as a reviewer of research proposals and scientific publications as appropriate. The individual will attend seminars organized by UC Davis such as cancer center symposium to present research results internally and nationally, such as American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) and ACS meetings.
UNIVERSITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE – 5%
The individual will engage in public outreach activities that include presenting scientific research results to public high schools and providing relevant advice to individuals and public agencies.
