Description

The Department of Native American Studies at the University of California, Davis invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in the area of Native American/Indigenous History, with an emphasis on North America (U.S., Mexico, Canada) to begin July 1, 2020. This position will be filled by a scholar of Native American/Indigenous history, ethnohistory, and/or historiography, with an active research agenda. The holder of this faculty position in Native American/Indigenous History should have a PhD in Native American (American Indian, Indigenous, First Nations) Studies with an emphasis on history, or in History, or a related field, and a clear commitment to Native American/Indigenous History, in terms of theory, methodology, pedagogy as they pertain to the field of Native American and Indigenous Studies. The holder of this position must be able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses focused on Native American/Indigenous History, as well as work with students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates must have a PhD in hand by the first day of classes.

We seek individuals with a commitment to the enhancement of our Native American Studies undergraduate and graduate programs. Our department is inter/multidisciplinary and hemispheric in perspective. We offer an undergraduate major and minor and graduate program (M.A., Ph.D., and D.E. Designated Emphasis) in Native American Studies.
