General Pediatrics Division Chief
The University of California, Davis School of Medicine is launching a national search for a Division Chief of Academic General Pediatrics. The clinical responsibilities of the Division of General Pediatrics include the newborn nursery, outpatient pediatric clinics at UC Davis Medical Center (UCDMC), and pediatric clinics located at Federally Qualified Health Centers in Sacramento. The UC Davis Children's Hospital is based on the UC Davis Health campus in Sacramento, California and serves a population of over 1 million children in the Northern California Central Valley and Western Nevada regions. Sacramento is an easily accessible, family-oriented city in close proximity to the San Francisco Bay area, Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains, the California coast, and Napa Valley.
The position is open at the Associate/Full Professor rank (commensurate with credentials) in the Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series. The candidate will be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, and administrative duties relevant to the Division. Dedicated research time will be provided for a Division Chief in a research promotional track.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Provide care for general pediatrics patients in the nursery and outpatient pediatric clinics
• Act as a consultant to other services as needed.
• Research and publication training including grant funding (if applicable)
• Provide both formal didactic sessions and clinical supervision for students and housestaff.
• Serve as junior medical student preceptor on a rotational basis of every 1 - 2 years.
• Participate in section and departmental meetings, conferences, hospital and departmental committees.
This position may, at times, require the incumbent to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. Specific hazards of the position may include but are not limited to exposure to patients with infections.
The candidates must have the following experience/qualifications:
• M.D. or D.O.
• Successful completion of an approved pediatric residency training program
• Board certification in Pediatrics
• Eligibility for a California Medical License
• 8 years of experience in clinical care, education, and administrative experience is required.
• The ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
