Postdoctoral position using CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing to treat neurologic disease at UC Davis.

Location: UC Davis Genome Center

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. David J. Segal in the UC Davis Genome Center ( This project will investigate the use of genetic and epigenetic editing in the treatment of neurologic disease. The position’s primary focus is to evaluate the on-target and off-target activities of genetic and epigenetic editing tools in neuronal cell models (e.g., iPSC derived neurons, primary neurons). The successful candidate is expected to prepare and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals, and participate in seminars and weekly lab meetings. More information on the lab can be found at: .

The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology, or related field. Experience working with gene editing as well as neuronal cell models (e.g., differentiation of hiPSC to neurons or rodent primary neuronal cultures) is required. Wet-lab experience with whole-genome assays (e.g., 4C, HiC, off-target analysis) is also preferred.
This work will be partially supported by the NIH Somatic Cell Genome Editing consortium ( Therefore candidates must have excellent communication skills and be comfortable working collaboratively within the lab and the consortia labs.
