Location: UC Davis Genome Center

Description:

Develop expertise in molecular modeling, bioinformatics, and “big data” through the use and development of new computational tools for engineering enzymes. This position’s primary focus is to develop computational tools to guide enzyme discovery efforts, enabling access to new macro-nutrients which have the potential to transform the effect of desirable foods on human health. In addition, side-projects to provide computational support for our numerous collaborators on the development of fuels, therapeutics, and foods are possible. The successful candidate is expected to prepare and submit manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals, and participate in seminars and weekly lab meetings. More information on the lab can be found at: https://sites.google.com/site/ucdsiegellab/home

Qualifications:

The applicant must have a Ph.D. in biophysics, computer science, computational chemistry, computational biology, or related field. Experience working with Python is required, and experience with Jupyter notebooks and PyRosetta is preferred. It is also preferred the candidate have experience with molecular modeling, and ideally the Rosetta Molecular Modeling Suite (however not required). This position will be primarily computational however wet-lab work is possible if desired (but not expected).

We are looking for an individual who is able to design and conduct experiments independently, has interest in novel hypothesis testing and the communication skills to supervise and train more junior researchers in the laboratory. Applicants must also be comfortable working collaboratively with industry and working on projects with sensitive intellectual property.

How To Apply:

Applicants should submit curriculum vitae, including list of publications, a description of their present research activity, and contact information for three references.
