The Department of Neurology, University of California Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting two neurologists with training and expertise in neuromuscular disorders for full-time faculty positions.
The faculty positions are available in the either the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) series, In-Residence series or Clinical X series. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary academic Neurology practice in the beautiful Sacramento region of Northern California.
The UC Davis Department of Neurology and UC Davis Health System teaching hospital are nationally ranked in US News & World Report. The Department is linked to three neuroscience research centers and the UC Davis Veterinary School. The UC Davis clinical electrophysiology lab recently relocated to a new state-of-the art outpatient facility specifically designed and integrated into an outpatient Neurosciences Clinic in the heart of midtown Sacramento. The lab accommodates EMG and EEG studies during clinic hours and Sleep studies during the night and weekends.
The successful candidate must possess an MD/DO degree and possess a valid California Medical license or be eligible for licensure in the State of California. Applicants should have completed a post-Neurology fellowship in neuromuscular neurology and be board-certified/eligible in Neurology (ABPN) on or before their start date.. Additional training or experience in Electrodiagnostic medicine and electromyography is preferred.
Experience teaching medical students, residents and fellows is preferred. Interest in clinical or translational neurology is preferred. The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is required.
This faculty position requires a primary interest in clinical practice and the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. The faculty member will provide inpatient and outpatient clinical care; teach medical students, residents and fellows; and provide university/public service.
For the Health Sciences Clinical Series, an emphasis is placed on clinical service in an outpatient setting and clinical teaching of students and house-staff. This series may also include classroom or lab teaching of medical students.
For the Clinical X and In-Residence series, the ability and experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research and a record of publications in peer reviewed journals is required. Evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials is preferred. The In-Residence series requires an established, funded research program.
The academic rank and track of the position is commensurate with the level of experience and qualifications of the applicant.
