Position description

A. Position Description: One non-tenured lecturer to instruct BIS 101, Genes and Gene Expression during Winter and Spring quarter, 2020.

B. C. Advertisement: This position will be advertised on the websites for the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, UC Davis, and the UC system-wide jobs site. The search committee will also actively solicit names of potential candidates from faculty both inside and outside of the College of Biological Sciences and will send invitations to apply for the position to all identified individuals. Through the advertisement and nomination procedures given above, every effort will be made to bring the positions to the attention of all potential candidates including women and underrepresented groups. The advertisement (attached) lists the position as open until June 24th, 2019 for ensuring full consideration. All applications will be on-line through the Recruit website.

D. Selection Process: The Vice-chair of Instruction in the department of Molecular and Cellular Biology MCB Department will consider the candidates’ files. The top ranked candidates will be interviewed. The Vice-chair will submit to the Dean a candidate for review and approval, in accordance with the affirmative-action policy. Recommendation on the selected candidate along with the Final Recruitment Report will be sent to the Dean of the College of Biological Sciences for approval.

E. Criteria for Selection: This position requires a Ph.D. in genetics or a related field. Candidates must have an outstanding record of achievement in teaching genetics and related topics at the undergraduate level.
