Position description

The Department of Neurological Surgery at UC Davis School of Medicine is recruiting a full-time faculty member in Neurological Surgery specializing in the management of spinal disorders. The position is offered at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level within the Clinical Neurological Surgery or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series. Successful candidates will have the foundation, preparation, and vision to pursue a productive career in academic neurosurgery. Additionally, there is potential for a joint appointment with the VA Northern California Health Care System.

Requirements
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active neurosurgical clinical practice, conduct clinical and/or basic science research, and teach residents and medical students as part of a multidisciplinary team at the UC Davis Spine Center in Sacramento, which includes Orthopedics, PM&R, Pain, and Radiology.

Basic Qualifications
Candidates must possess an MD, DO, or equivalent degree, must be ABNS board certified or eligible, and have completed specialized training in spinal neurosurgery. Candidates must have a background in teaching residents and medical students. Evidence of clinical and/or basic science research is required. Candidates must possess the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment that fosters team science and multidisciplinary patient care. All candidates must have or be able to obtain a California medical license and California Fluoroscopy Supervisor and Operator Permit on or before the start of the appointment.

Preferred Qualifications
A postgraduate spine fellowship is preferred, but those with a strong enfolded fellowship will be considered. Experience with minimally invasive techniques and managing complex spinal deformity is preferred.
