Description

Veterinarian with advanced training in Diagnostic Imaging. Board certification or eligibility for certification in the American College of Veterinary Radiology or European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging by the date of appointment is required. PhD or advanced training in research is preferred but not required. Clinical experience and competence in more than one of the following areas in Diagnostic Imaging is required: Large Animal and Small Animal Radiology, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Small Animal Ultrasound. Demonstrated aptitude and experience for teaching veterinary students and training residents is required. Documented research record or potential to develop an independent research program is required. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere. A valid license to practice veterinary medicine in California or a University license will be required before employment (California Business and Professions Code Section 4846-4857; California Business and Professions Code Section 4848.1) the acquisition of which will be facilitated by the School of Veterinary Medicine.
Teaching: Responsibilities include: 1) participation in lectures, discussion sessions and laboratories in the DVM professional curriculum; 2) clinical teaching in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH); 3) participation in the graduate clinical (resident) training program of the VMTH; and 4) participation in the graduate academic programs (MS and PhD) of the campus.
Clinical: The position includes a 50% clinical commitment to the Diagnostic Imaging Service of the VMTH. The individual will be responsible for directing, instructing and supervising veterinary students and house officers; providing diagnostic imaging service to patients; and advising and consulting with referring veterinarians and clients.
Research: The development of a creative, independent and productive basic and/or clinically-oriented research program in diagnostic imaging is a fundamental and indispensable requirement of the position, including publication of results in professional/scientific journals. Individual will provide leadership in directing research projects of veterinary students, residents and graduate students.
Service: University and public service through committee work, participation in professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate means is expected.
