This is a temporary position for 7 months.
Research
The Jr. Specialist will be responsible for:
Developing methods for stochastic process modeling as part of stochastic programming optimization. Particularly creation of scenarios, which are full parameter specifications for the optimization model, each with an attached probability;
Implementing methods developed by the Jr. Specialist as well as those described in the research literature and developed by the supervisor of the Jr. Specialist in Python;
Writing documentation of the software;
Conducting computational experiments to determine the efficacy of the methods (primarily using software that is already developed, but some enhancement may be required);
Writing portions of drafts of scholarly articles describing the methods and experiments;
Participate in project meetings.
University and Public Service
•This is a temporary position and the incumbent will have the option to participate in a departmental committee
Requirements:
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Operations Research, Mathematics, or a related field with significant coursework on optimization. They should also have the ability to write software in Python, but experience with other object oriented languages could be a substitute.
