Description

The University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, Division of Nephrology is recruiting for a full-time academic position at the Assistant Professor level in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) series. Appointee to the HSCP is required to teach, provide direct patient care, participate in University/public service, and work collaboratively with a diverse group of nephrologists in the inpatient and outpatient clinical care setting.

Nephrology faculty will provide clinical work as an Interventional Nephrologist in the Vascular Access Unit, as well as clinical services at the UC Davis Ambulatory Care Clinic, various outpatient dialysis clinics, and inpatient clinical services in the main medical center hospital. Specific inpatient clinical workload includes nephrology in-patient consultation, faculty service only, and shared weekend/holiday call with all other nephrology faculty.

Candidates must have MD or DO degree, be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology, and be eligible for medical licensure in the State of California. He/She must provide a regular and meaningful contribution to teaching involving nephrology fellows, Internal Medicine residents, medical students, postdocs and/or graduate students. Importantly, the candidate is expected to provide supervision of nephrology fellows in performing procedures pertaining to Interventional Nephrology. Percent effort in teaching may vary depending on the assigned clinical load. Teaching in the Health Sciences Clinical series generally occurs simultaneously with patient care.

Preference will be given to individuals with strong clinical skills. He/She must have an active membership in the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology (ASDIN), with formal training/certification as an interventional nephrologist in the United States to perform endovascular procedures.
