Position description

This course is designed to provide an introduction to a variety of methods that are available for measuring the adequacy of dietary intakes, nutrient reserves, as well as health and biological functions in relation to nutrition for both individuals and populations. The specific objectives of the course are to provide students with: 1) a theoretical overview of nutritional assessment methods and how they are applied in different situations, 2) information on the ways in which the validity, precision, and accuracy of these methods are evaluated, and 3) opportunities to practice or observe selected examples of these techniques, including dietary, anthropometric, biochemical, and clinical assessment methods..

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Nutrition offers a temporary Lecturer position in Nutritional Assessment, NUT112. This course is designed to provide an introduction to a variety of methods that are available for measuring the adequacy of dietary intakes, nutrient reserves, as well as health and biological functions in relation to nutrition for both individuals and populations.

APPOINTMENT DATE: Service periods are: Spring Quarter: March 28 to June 13, 2019

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach 50% of one 4-unit undergraduate course in Nutritional Assessment (NUT112). Responsibilities will include preparing and delivering lectures, training and supervising teaching assistants to conduct laboratory activities, developing student assessments including laboratory assignments and exams.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Temporary lecturers are selected to fill specialized positions that require professional as well as academic expertise.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience.
