The Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of California, Davis invites applications for a 10%-variable lecturer faculty position to teach in the Health Informatics Graduate Program under the Department. The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the design and implementation of the education curriculum.

The position will primarily provide core academic teaching support for the programs, and will participate on behalf of the program in the UC Davis Academic Federation. This position will be required to organize and maintain academic curriculum for all assigned courses.

General Information:

The Department of Public Health Sciences and Division of Health Informatics is based in the UC Davis School of Medicine. Its mission is to improve the health of people through advanced graduate training epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, clinical informatics, public health informatics and behavioral science, and through research and educational programs, clinical programs, public service, and policy development.

The Department hosts three doctoral programs: PhD in Epidemiology, PhD in Biostatistics, PhD in Public Health Sciences, and three master’s degree programs: Masters of Public Health, Masters of Applied Translational Science, and Masters of Science in Health Informatics. This is a 12-month appointment at 10% time, and may be renewed annually based on need, performance, and available funding. More information about the department can be found here:

Essential Qualifications:
The criterion for appointment is evidence of teaching excellence and expertise in informatics and public health practice. Applicants must possess a relevant master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in any public health or informatics specialty (e.g., general public health, epidemiology, health services, health promotion, informatics, information science.). A minimum of five years’ experience in academic teaching and practice is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
University level teaching experience is highly desired, as is familiarity with distance education technologies.
