Position description

The California National Primate Research Center at the University of California, Davis, has an opening for non-tenured, academic term appointments as a Junior Specialist for our Neuroscience and Behavior Unit. Please visit the website below for information: https://www.cnprc.ucdavis.edu/

Assist with research activities relating to the characterization of synaptic health in cognitive aging and in neurological disorders in primates by working closely with the senior research team, under the direction of the PI and laboratory manager. Provide support in lab/field experiments which includes interpretation of research results from data collection reports for academic publications/manuscripts. Perform field, lab or bench research. (e.g. perform behavioral testing; collect specimens; manage databases). Engage in research activity for academic publications which includes meeting with PI, research team to discuss current and future research projects. Contribute to the drafting/editing of manuscripts, grant proposals, research reports and summary of data collection to produce academic publications for peer reviewed journals. Contribute to drafting statistical reports and analysis for presentations at professional conferences which will include drafting and editing research reports for appropriate professional/technical societies or groups and other educational and research organizations. Work with PIs and Research and Grant Financial Manager on pre-award coordination including gathering data to report to awarding agencies. Participate in training activities, such as mentoring undergraduate interns/researchers and training in lab work and data analysis. Incumbent encouraged to present orally at public events, committee service in the areas of safety, animal care, facilities, Picnic Day Planning, or have provided mentorship of undergraduate students.

Bachelor's Degree is required. Bachelor's degree in Animal Behavior Science, Psychology or related biological sciences field.
