The Department of Neurology, at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is seeking an Epileptologist for a full time faculty position. The position responsibilities are predominately clinical care and clinical research in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor or Clinical X series at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level.
As a Level 1 Trauma Center UCDHS has the largest catchment area of the academic medical centers in California. UC Davis Medical Center and the Neurology department is nationally recognized for quality of patient care and provides clinical, academic, and research leadership in the region. All outpatient services recently relocated to a state-of-the-art outpatient Neurosciences Clinic in the heart of midtown Sacramento.

In both the Health Science Clinical Professor and Clinical X series, the faculty member will provide inpatient and outpatient clinical care; teach medical students, residents and fellows; develop research and creative work, and provide university/public service.
Clinical responsibilities include the clinical diagnosis and treatment of inpatient and outpatients with epilepsy and seizures; clinical pre-surgical epilepsy evaluations; performing phase I and phase II epilepsy monitoring unit investigations; review and interpretation of adult and pediatric routine and continuous EEG monitoring; and, intraoperative cranial neurophysiologic monitoring.

The individual will be expected to supervise, teach, and mentor neurophysiology and epilepsy fellows, as well as teach medical students, neurology residents in the clinic, inpatient EMU service and neurology inpatient service.

The individual must possess a MD or MD/PhD degree with training/experience in neurology and should be board certified in neurology and board eligible/certified in epilepsy/clinical neurophysiology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or the Canadian equivalent. Candidates must have completed at least one year of post-residency fellowship training in epilepsy or clinical neurophysiology (epilepsy track). Experience in cranial neurophysiologic monitoring is preferred. A valid California medical license or eligibility for licensure in the State of California is required. Individuals should have experience with outpatient, inpatient, and ICU neurology. Must have demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment; adhere to policies and procedures; and provide University/public service. Prior faculty experience is preferred.

For the Clinical X series, prior experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research and a record of publication in peer reviewed journals is required. Evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials is preferred.

The level of appointment will be commensurate with credentials.
