Position description

The Department of Neurology, University of California Davis, School of Medicine, seeks applicants for a full-time academic position as a General Clinical Neurologist in a rapidly growing academic department. The position includes a faculty appointment in the UC Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento, California. The position is available in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) series; Assistant/Associate/Full rank commensurate with experience.

The position focuses upon providing expert outpatient clinical care to patients with general neurologic disorders. Outpatient services are to be provided at both the Department’s Neurosciences Clinic in Midtown Sacramento and clinics within our Primary Care Network that enjoy a private practice-like environment. There is opportunity to interact collaboratively with a multidisciplinary academic team of adult neurologists and subspecialists with access to excellent nursing staff and pharmacological support.

UC Davis teaching hospital is a Level 1 trauma center with a National Comprehensive Cancer Center, Institute for Regenerative Medicine, a graduate School of Nursing, and Shriners Hospital for Children. Inpatient neurology is staffed 24/7 by residents, fellows and dedicated specialists in neurocritical care, epilepsy and neurovascular neurology.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our department seeks individuals who aspire to be outstanding general neurologists and diagnosticians with flexibility across all areas of neurology. The faculty member will provide outpatient clinical care and participate in the clinical education of medical students, residents, and fellows. The faculty member will also provide limited inpatient care, teleneurology, and provision of university/public service. While subspecialty interests are encouraged, the faculty member will spend most of their clinical service providing care for patients with general neurologic disorders.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates for the position must possess an MD or DO degree and be board certified/eligible in Neurology by June 30, 2019. A valid California medical license or eligibility for licensure in the State of California is required. Experience in and the ability to teach medical students, neurology and medical residents and fellows is required. Candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment and adhere to policies and procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior faculty experience is preferred.

The level of appointment will be commensurate with credentials.
