The Division of Hematology Oncology, Department of Internal Medicine, UC Davis School of Medicine, is recruiting up to three full-time faculty in the Regular, In Residence or Clinical Investigator series as an Associate Professor or Full Professor in the specialty area of Breast, GI, Lung cancer and/or early phase therapeutic development.
Position Responsibilities: The successful applicant will engage in high impact oncology clinical translational research supported by extramural funding. Clinical care will focus on oncology patients with breast, GI, or thoracic tumors and/or early phase therapeutic development. Potential for a leadership role within the Division of Hematology Oncology and/or the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, and demonstrated ability to build research teams and conduct collaborative science, that may include innovative investigator-initiated clinical trials. A record of publication in peer-reviewed journals is required. For exceptionally qualified candidates, appointment to the Regular series (tenure) and/or an Albert Holmes Rowe Endowed Chair of Genetics III is possible.
Additional responsibilities for Endowed Chair candidates:
• Engage in teaching and scholarly activities focuses in the area of human genetics
• Provide leadership for medical students and graduate student teaching commensurate with senior faculty in the School of Medicine
• Promote biomedical genetic research and education at UC Davis
• Promote the training of physician scientists
• Enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus as a whole
• Provide leadership for faculty and student members of the program
The division has 38 faculty, 12 staff physicians, 10 fellows, 53 staff and operates a large and diverse clinical and research program. The division is a major component of the NCI-designated UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and has a strong presence in developmental therapeutics with an Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN) grant and as a Lead Academic Participating Site (LAPS) with the NCI National Clinical Trials Network. The UC Davis School of Medicine is in the top twenty percent for NIH funding and one of the inaugural Clinical and Translational Award sites. Application Requirements: Candidates must possess an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree and be board certified by the ABIM in medical oncology (+/- hematology). A Phase 1 investigator certified in hematology alone would also be considered. Must also be eligible for medical licensure in the state of California to fulfill criteria for appointment at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level. Experience in, and the ability to teach medical students, residents, and fellows as well as experience caring for medical oncology patients is required. The ability and experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research is required. Evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials is highly desirable. The ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment is required. A record of peer-reviewed publications is required.
This recruitment is conducted at the Associate or Professor rank. The resulting hire will be at the associate/professor rank, depending on the proposed appointee’s qualifications.
