Assistant/Associate Professor – Urologic Oncology
The Department of Urologic Surgery at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, invites applicants for a position at UC Davis, School of Medicine. This is an academic position at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank in the Regular series (50%) and In-Residence series (35%) with responsibilities in clinical care, teaching, research, and university and public services. It is expected that the candidate chosen for this position will be qualified to hold a 5/8th joint appointment in the Veterans Affairs Northern California Health Care System.
Qualified candidates must possess a medical degree, be board certified or board-eligible in Urology, be eligible for licensure in the State of California, and be fellowship trained in urologic oncology. The candidate must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment and adhere to policies and procedures. The candidate is expected to have experience in providing clinical services in urologic oncology, proven ability to build extramurally funded research program, evidence of experience with teaching and publications of scholarly work in medical literature. Experience and a strong interest in either outcomes research or basic/translational science are desired. A Master of Science in Health Services Research is highly preferred for those in health services research. US Citizenship required. (Non-citizens may be appointed when no qualified citizens are available in accordance with regulations from the Veterans Affairs).
Clinical service includes management of patients with urologic cancers to include kidney, bladder, prostate and testes using open, minimally invasive and robotic surgical approaches.
Teaching includes participation in weekly grand rounds and educational conferences as well as the teaching of medical students, interns, residents, graduate students, and/or postdoctoral fellows. It may include required lectures and courses or development of new courses.
Research responsibilities include developing a creative and collaborative research program in either outcomes research or basic/translational science investigations is desired. Achieving extramural funding, collaborative research and authorship of publications in peer reviewed journals are expected outcomes.
Service and professional responsibilities include University and public service through committee work, participation in professional organizations, continuing education and other appropriate means as required by rank.
