Position description

The Department of Surgery at the University of California, Davis; School of Medicine seeks to recruit a full-time academic position at the rank of either Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the Ladder Rank and/or In-Residence series depending on experience and qualifications.

The selected candidate will be expected, to work in collaboration with clinical faculty and other researchers at UC Davis, to develop basic and translational research projects related to solid abdominal organ transplantation, including authoring and co-authoring grant submissions to the NIH and other extramural funding organizations.

The selected candidate must be able to demonstrate evidence of experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: human inflammatory processes, including ischemia-reperfusion injury; basic or translational science related to solid organ transplantation; regenerative medicine and/or stem cell based therapies; biomarker discovery and validation (genomic, proteomic, and/or metabolomic) and human cellular immunology. Requirements for the position include an MD, PhD, or MPH in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or a related field. The candidate must be able to present a history of collaboration with clinicians and other scientists. This appointment is primarily a research and education appointment although the faculty member may be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching, research and university service depending on academic series. All candidates must have the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment. Salary and level of appointment will be based upon experience and qualifications.
