Position description

The UC Davis University Writing Program invites applications for full-time Lecturers to fill a range of teaching positions at the upper-division and/or lower-division levels. We have needs for applicants experienced in teaching academic ESL writing and applicants qualified to teach advanced composition, writing in the professions (particularly business, science, and technical writing), and/or writing in the disciplines. Applicants who can fill two or more of these needed areas are also encouraged to apply. Twelve-month appointment beginning in the 2016-2017 academic year. Full-time teaching load: 7 courses over 3 quarters. Starting salary: $49,012 for full-time lecturers; full benefits.

We will begin reviewing applications February 29, 2016 and hope to have made decisions by the end of April; but positions will remain open until filled. We will conduct interviews by telephone, Skype, or, when possible, on the campus.

The successful candidates will join an independent writing program with an established emphasis on writing in the disciplines and professions, as well as a diverse student population. UC Davis has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report for its "stellar” program of writing in the disciplines. The University Writing Program publishes the journal Writing on the Edge and the undergraduate annual Prized Writing. We enjoy the support of Davis’s renowned programs in the sciences, environmental studies, agriculture, and engineering, plus close ties with the arts, the humanities, and the School of Education.
